"Wait a minute, just so I understand this correctly: the long and laboriously planned go-live had to be cancelled because the necessary authorizations could not be assigned!? Do you know what a struggle it was to get the system for the go-live on the weekend? We cancelled 2 shifts for it! And now all this was for nothing! What should I tell the users now?"
Authorizations are often a sensitive and complicated issue in SAP systems. Go-lives in production systems often take place at the weekend and possibly also during the night. A single missing authorization for a single project employee can endanger the entire go-live and thus the entire project. What should you do if this missing authorization is noticed at 3 a.m. on Sunday night? How quickly can permissions be obtained and assigned? The whole schedule can easily get into a tailspin, so that the promised availability of the system for resuming productive operation can no longer be kept.
With "Shortcut for SAP systems" you can assign necessary authorizations quickly and easily directly in the system. These can be the available roles and profiles - but we also have a solution for cases where the required authorization is not available in a role.
You do not have to change anything in your SAP System to do this. No transports, no add-ons.
"So, if only these status fields in the table need to be changed so that we can make the system available to users again, then just do it. ...
"What do you mean, 'This is not possible, there is neither a maintenance dialog nor a correction program for this'? So what now?"
Many tables in an SAP system can be maintained directly in the system. And many cannot. If no maintenance transaction has been defined for a table, you will have a problem in an emergency. Usually, you have to set up a maintenance transaction in the development system and import it into the acceptance/test system and then into the production system using a transport request. This can take hours - provided that all the necessary people are available: Developers, SAP Basis, approvers if necessary...
Or do thousands of data records have to be corrected, so that the mere possibility of maintaining individual data records does not help?
With "Shortcut for SAP systems" you have a maintenance function for almost every table in your system. And it is also possible to correct many data records in one go.
"Where we are now? So far, it's gone pretty well. But we have to correct the stocks. We have a correction program, but we can't get it into the system right now because the development system is stupidly in offline backup and the approvers are not available for opening the system. We hope that the development system will be back in 3 hours and that we can create the program and get it into the system via an emergency transport. But we are running out of time..."
Here too, the typical weekend situation alone poses a risk to your go-live. Development and test systems usually do not have 24x7 availability. The processes for transport orders and their approval take even longer at the weekend than they already do or may not be feasible at all, e.g. because people involved in the process are not available. This can bring the entire go-live down - and thus endanger the entire project and cause additional costs.
Get additional opportunities and thus security. You can feed a correction program directly into the target system with "Shortcut for SAP systems" - even without a development and test system, without a transport request and without a developer key.
